How to select a custom power spring for a rewind mechanism
A power spring should be selected as part of the rewind mechanism, not by strip dimensions alone. The spring has to fit the housing, connect reliably and provide suitable torque over the working range.
Start with the operating requirement
- Required torque at key points in the operating cycle
- Working turns and the motion or load being returned
- Available spring space and shaft or drum diameter
- End-hook or attachment geometry and assembly sequence
- Operating speed, duty cycle, environment and life target
Then confirm the project constraints
Identify the material or approved alternatives, critical dimensions, test method, annual demand and target cost. If the mechanism is already built, a drawing or physical sample can help reveal assembly constraints. If it is still in development, a sketch and operating description can support an initial review.
Torque, turns, dimensions and fatigue performance interact. A design that meets a static torque value may still need adjustment for the full travel or cycle-life requirement. Agree on the sample evaluation method before production approval.
If you already have a drawing, send its number and revision. If not, share the application and the key inputs above so the team can identify what information is still needed.
