Custom power spring capability: dimensions and design limits

For an initial feasibility discussion, Zongda’s currently confirmed general capability ranges include strip thickness from 0.1 to 2.5 mm, strip width from 4 to 80 mm, strip length up to approximately 45 m, conventional spring outside diameter up to approximately 600 mm, and torque capability up to approximately 160 N·m.

These figures describe broad capability limits, not a single product specification. They cannot necessarily be combined in one spring. Achievable output and geometry depend on material, width, thickness, winding arrangement, working turns, housing, end connections, life target and safety factor.

Tolerances need a defined inspection method

The currently confirmed strip tolerances are ±0.015 mm for thickness and ±0.1 mm for width. The final tolerance for a custom spring depends on material condition, product dimensions, structure and how the characteristic is measured.

What to send for a feasibility review

Provide the latest drawing or sample, required torque or force, working range, installation space, operating conditions, target life, quantity and acceptance method. If one or more dimensions approach a general limit, identify them early so the team can review the combination before quotation.

Final capability, price and schedule are confirmed for the actual design. A general maximum should never be interpreted as a promise that every design within those individual limits is manufacturable.
